The sixth volume completes the project of creating a catalogue of dramatic works

The final tome of the fundamental bibliographic index Repertoire of Russian Drama has been published—the result of more than 30 years of work by specialists. This reference set is a complete collection of plays published in Russia from 1734 to 1920. One of its unique features is that it includes information on plays by little-known and forgotten playwrights. The index is based on a unique electronic database.

The compilation of the catalogue began in 1993 by libraries—the main repositories of dramatic works in Russia. The project was supported by the Russian State Art Library (RSAL), the National Library of Russia, and the St Petersburg State Theatre Library. The six-volume set contains over 35,500 bibliographic entries, each containing comprehensive information on publications, publication dates, playwrights, and the history of play titles.

The Repertoire of Russian Drama provides for the analysis of the evolution of Russian drama. It has become an essential tool for researchers, theatre scholars, and literary historians: the index is in demand by specialists in preparing new productions, in teaching, and for reference purposes.
The sixth volume (U-Z) contains 5,857 detailed bibliographic descriptions of dramatic works.

This volume includes supplements to all previous volumes—a total of 1,395 entries.
In March 2026, the index of the Repertoire of Russian Drama will be presented and the results of the entire project will be summarised.
