On 16 March 2022, following a three-year hiatus, the Club of Postcard Lovers resumed its work at the Russian State Art Library (RSAL). A joint meeting of the Club and the Union of Postcard Collectors of Russia took place.
In opening the meeting, President of the Union of Postcard Collectors of Russia Vasily Volkov presented the Union’s Philokartist journal, the first issue of which was published in December 2021.
The main report of the meeting was devoted to the 150th anniversary of the Russian open letter, which philocartists celebrated on 1 January 2022. Mikhail Dymshits, a member of the Union of Postcard Collectors of Russia and General Director of the consulting company Dymshits and Partners, spoke about how the first forms of open letters looked in Russia, how their format and appearance changed over time, and the cost to post them domestically and internationally. He accompanied his speech with samples of postcards from his collection.
