On November 24-25 2022 , the Russian State Art Library I will host the 15th International Scientific Readings ‘The Theatre Book Between the Past and the Future’: ‘The Library: Bridges of Art’
Since 1995, the Russian State Art Library (RSAL) has been conducting scientific readings on the history, study, storage, and bibliography of theatre books. At these conferences, for the first time, issues regarding the comprehensive scientific study of the theatre book began to be discussed and an unconventional approach to publications of this kind was proposed to libraries and the theatre business. For nearly three decades, scientific readings have been held at RSAL every two years.
In 2022, the year of RSAL’s 100th anniversary, the theme of the 15th International Scientific Readings ‘The Theatre Book Between the Past and Future’ will be ‘The Library: Bridges of Art’. The conference is dedicated to issues pertaining to libraries’ work with book collections and visual materials. Within the framework of the15th International Readings, the following sections are planned:
– the history of RSAL and other libraries;
– book collections in libraries and museums;
– work with visual material collections and making them accessible, as well as the use of images in serving the modern reader; and
– a round table on the issues of serving readers in special libraries.
Bibliologists, theatre critics, culturologists, philologists, historians, publishers, and specialists of libraries, museums, archives, and institutes are invited to participate in the Readings.
Time limit: reports – 20 minutes, messages – 10 minutes. The working language of the conference is Russian; if necessary, presentations in English are possible. Applications will be accepted until 15 October 2022.

The Organising Committee reserves the right to approve applications.
Transportation costs, accommodation, and meals are at the expense of the sending party. The reports and messages of the 15th International Scientific Readings ‘The Theatre Book Between the Past and Future’ will be published as articles in a collection of conference materials. Reports should not exceed 40,000 characters with spaces; messages—from 10,000 to 20,000 characters. Detailed instructions for formatting articles may be found in the Appendix.
