The Russian State Art Library’s YouTube channel will connect Moscow and St Petersburg, and give the opportunity to view the conversation between RSAL Director Ada Kolganova and the theatre critic Lyubov Oves.
Lyubov Oves, PhD art history, is a historian and critic of scenography, a research associate of the theatre sector of the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts, associate professor of the Russian Theatre Department at the Russian State Institute of Performing Arts, and lecturer at the Repin Institute of the Arts.
The conversation will focus on scenographers and their work, attitudes about the sources of information necessary to create scenery and stage design for a performance, and the reproduction of the atmosphere of various times and peoples. What information is used by today’s students—future theatre artists—that from the Internet or materials from the theatre library? How was the famous scenography created by Sergei Barkhin and Eduard Kochergin, who worked for many years with RSAL’s collections.
