Date: 27.09.2018
On 27 September 2018, the presentation of the encyclopedic dictionary The Bolshoi Theatre of Russia in the Biographies of Musicians (Nauka, 2018) was held at the Russian State Art Library (RSAL).
The unique edition was presented by its author Irina Parfenova, a member of the Bolshoi Theatre Choir, who is also known as an archivist and researcher. She showed slides of rare photographs and documents as she spoke about her many years of painstaking research on the history of the Bolshoi Theatre Orchestra.
Irina Parfenova made up for the lacunae in Russian musical and theatre historiography, presenting the events and facts of the three periods of the history of the orchestra—the Imperial Theatre, the Soviet and the modern—and for the first time introducing many names into scientific circulation.
Attending the presentation were former members of the Bolshoi Theatre Orchestra and representatives of famous musical dynasties.
