One of the significant events of the Forum was the "Art in the Library – Library for Art," Round Table held on 18 April, in the Pskov Regional Universal Scientific Library (PRUSL). Discussed were acute issues regarding features of library and information services for readers of creative professions, students of art and schools; the variety of creative forms of library work on aesthetic education; the training of personnel for the cultural sector; exhibition projects of libraries; interaction of libraries with other cultural institutions for aesthetic education, etc.
The moderators of the Round Table were Deputy Director of PRUSL Vasilisa Vladimirova and the director of the Russian State Art Library (RSAL) Ada Kolganova. In her report "Library Format of Art” she stressed the important responsibility of today’s librarian in the formation of the modern reader-intellectual.
Listeners paid special attention to practical recommendations on the participation of arts departments in the economic activities of libraries.
A gift to the forum participants and all Pskov residents was the specially prepared exhibition “Russian Antiquity. Church Architecture” from the collections of RSAL. Presenting the exposition, the head of the department of cultural programs of RSAL Yekaterina Shumyantseva spoke about the emergence of steady interest in Orthodox architecture in Russia at the end of the 17th – mid-19th century. Listeners learned about outstanding Russian and foreign lithograph artists whose works are stored in RSAL’s collections and are still indispensable sources for specialists studying Russian architecture.
In conclusion, from RSAL Ada Kolganova donated copies of lithographs of Moscow to PRUSL.
