In the Russian State Art Library (RSAL), 16 March 2018, was dedicated to the professions of couture, costume, and set designers; students and teachers of specialized colleges and higher education; and all who wish to become a designer in the future.
“Fashion Designer Day" began with an open preview of "The Traditional Costumes of the Peoples of the World", where unique books and magazines from the RSAL collections were presented.
A great success was the informative workshop “Costume and Fashion in RSAL’s Resources,” in which students became acquainted with the methodology of the search query for fashion and costume.
There was an interactive review of magazines on fashion and design that introduced illustrated fashion editions from RSAL’s collections.
A lecture by art critic and cultural anthropologist Andrey Borovsky, “Russian Fashion: History, Paradoxes, Trends” was devoted to the influence of the national costume on fashion, the development of the “Russian style” in clothing.
