Scientific Information Department

The stock of the department (7,000 storage items) is singled out inside the RSAL system of the stocks. It includes universal, special and topical encyclopedic editions both of different fields of knowledge and on separate problems of culture and arts in Russian and foreign languages.

In 1997 the department began the electronic data processing of published periodical editions.

Bibliographical record of the articles from magazines are included in the library electronic catalogue.

Card files.

The bibliographical reference catalogue of the scientific information department contained over 1 million cards in Russian and foreign languages contributes to the active use of the library stocks.

The main card files: "Repertoire", "Performance arts", “Theatre, cinema and literature personalities“, “The world importance of the Russian theatre", "The theatre and dramaturgy of foreign countries", "Music", "Cinema art" "Fine, decorative and applied arts", "Culture, literature and arts of foreign countries".

The main value of these card files is the information on the contents of periodical editions in the Russian and foreign languages.

Card files contained facts: “Prizes in the field of arts”, “Prizes and honorary titles of art workers”.

The main services. Bibliographical references and consultations can be offered in the reading-room of the department and by phone, mail and e-mail.
