Russian State Art Library (RSAL) in association with “The Modern Drama” magazine and the Russian Academic Youth Theatre (RAMT) organized the evening dedicated to Russian contemporary playwright Vadim Levanov.
“Why have we decided to organize this evening? The reason for that was our wish not to forget Vadim Levanov. Theatres suddenly rushed to put his plays on stage. His texts are complicated, burning and alive. People brought to theatre by Vadim – there are more than ten of them – have long ago become famous and not only in this country. But this is not the reason. Vadim was our friend. We miss him. We miss his precise assessments, his wit and his infectious laughter. Do come, for we are going to remember Vadim, his plays and the many good deeds that he did in his life”.
Rodion Beletsky, Head of Drama Department,
“The Modern Drama” magazine”
Among the participants of the evening are playwrights Mikhail Durnenkov and Rodion Beletsky, theatre critic Christina Matvienko, Marina Shapovalova and others.
The new project of RSAL and “The Modern Drama” magazine will be announced at the evening.
P.S. More than nine of Levanov’s plays were published in “The Modern Drama”.
The issue of 1998 included three plays of Vadim Levanov which made it an absolute record for the magazine.
