The exhibition “Artist’s Book on the Spearhead of Contemporary Art” launched on September, 12th, 2013 in the Blue Hall of the Russian State Art Library. The exhibition aroused much interest both of professional artists and of amateurs of this rare genre.
The exposition was organized within the framework of the special project of the 5th Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art and included the most significant works by more than twenty authors of the genre. Among those were conceptual art works created at the initial stage of the genre as well as the books made by the contemporary artists during the last few years.
Ada Kolganova, the Director of RSAL, opened the exposition placing special emphasis upon the utmost importance of that project for the library as it took the library’s exhibition activity to a higher level and helped attract more and more professionally motivated visitors and readers.
Victor Lukin and Mikhail Pogarsky, the curators of the exposition, mentioned the significance of the special project for the Biennale. Artist’s Book is a unique field of the creative activity with many of its authors being famous painters whose celebrated works have been a part of many private and museum collections.
