On April, 16th, 2013 the Blue Hall of RSAL hosted the new exposition of the Reader’s Museum – The Bolshoi Theatre and the Library, dedicated to creative cooperation between reading staff of the Bolshoi Theatre and the consultants-librarians. The presentation opened with the performance of the Bolshoi soloist N. Bereslavtseva (flute) who played a music piece of Johann Sebastian Bach.
At the opening part of the event the Director of the Library A.A. Kolganova spoke about the idea of creating such a peculiar Reader’s Museum and about the previous exhibitions.
The long-term friend and reader of the Library, People’s Artist of USSR, Stage Director of the Bolshoi Theatre, Professor of GITIS Academy, G.P. Ansimov thanked the exhibitors for creating such profound and intelligent exposition of the theatre he worked for during his whole life.
Soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre Orchestra, Associate Professor of Russian Academy of Music named after Gnessins, Member of the Board of Trustees of RSAL L.V. Kondakov noted that the friendship between the Orchestra and the Library had been lasting for 12 years by then. Starting from 2001 the Blue Hall of RSAL is hosting monthly concerts where the artists of the Bolshoi Theatre Orchestra perform the music of Russian and foreign composers. As L.V. Kondakov admits the artists are always happy to take part in such musical “Evenings on Dmitrovka” because of the wonderful place and atmosphere.
The soloists M. Zolotarev (cello) and E. Zolotova (vocal) performed a piece of music by T. Smirnova - “Wind”.
Maria Aleksandrova, the principal dancer of the Bolshoi, People’s Artist of Russia, thanked the librarians for their precious contribution to saving the unique collections of RSAL.
The dancer Olga Rezvova on behalf of young team of the Bolshoi expressed gratitude to the authors of the exposition for the attention to the Theatre and the opportunity to learn more about its history.
E.E. Shumyantseva, Head of the Cultural Programs Department, conducted a general excursion at the exhibition.
In the conclusion the participants of the opening ceremony were presented with sets of memorable postcards “The Bolshoi Theatre and the Library” that were published for the opening of the exposition.
