Lending Collection of RSAL is proud to present the three forthcoming exhibitions dedicated to anniversaries of A.Y. Golovin, S.V. Mikhalkov and Vincent Van Gogh in March, 2013.
Alexander Golovin, whose 150th anniversary is going to be celebrated on March, 1st, is an outstanding painter and theatre designer. The reader can get acquainted with his autobiography “Meetings and impressions”, can experience the atmosphere of artistic life in Russia by reading the famous “Journals of Director of Imperial Theatres” by V. Telyakovsky, books of prince S.Scherbatov “An Artist in Russia that gone” and S. Makovsky “Silhouettes of Russian Artists”. The role of Golovin in the history of Russian theatrical design is demonstrated in books by art historians M. Davydova, R. Vlasova and M. Pozharskaya also displayed at the exhibition.
A small book of memoires “Golovin and Shalyapin. The night under the roof of Mariinsky Theatre” written in vigorous style by A. Almedingen, famous theatre designer, will deserve special interest as a bibliographic rarity.
March, 13th is the 100th anniversary of S. Mikhalkov, famous poet and playwright. The works to be presented at the exhibition are the large collection of plays for children and adults and his latest lifetime publications. Part of the exhibition is dedicated to the talented family of Mikhalkov-Konchalovsky.
The 160th anniversary of Vincent Van Gogh, the famous post-impressionist painter, is going to be celebrated on March, 30th by organizing the exposition of his letters to his brother Theo and friends, demonstrating the literary talent of the author. The exhibition will also include albums of art reproductions and latest art reviews on the works of Van Gogh together with well-known novel by Irving Stone “Lust for Life” describing the short and bright life of Van Gogh.
