We are sure that you are not only active readers but also viewers, thus we are extremely glad to inform you of the opening after a short break of our Library’s Video Club. Its collection counts more than 4000 different films on videotapes and DVD discs. All video documents are in the best condition and are available for watching in the Library.
The subjects of the collection are diverse, however, it is specified by the focus area of the Library: there are the best films of the very dawn of the cinema, European and American classics of the 20th century, including such masters of the Italian moviemaking as Federico Fellini, Paolo Pasolini, Michelangelo Antonioni, Bernardo Bertolucci, Franco Zefirelli and others. Together with the Italian giant of cinema there are films by the French New Wave directors – François Roland Truffaut, Jean-Luc Godard, Claude Chabrol, etc., the national German cinema represented by Leni Riefenstahl, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, Werner Herzog, Wim Wenders, Volker Schlöndorff; American independent and conceptual films by Francis Ford Coppola, Brian De Palma, Roman Polanski, Martin Charles Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino, etc. The collection also includes the works by Stanley Kubrick, Woody Allen, Emir Kusturica, Lars Von Trier, Michael Haneke, the Coen Brothers – reformers, innovators and permanent participants and winners of the most prestigious international festivals. Our video fund is proud to have the exotic eastern cinema classics by Akira Kurosawa, Yoji Yamada, Wong Kar-Wai, Kim Ki Duk and, of course, eastern European and Russian films, including the golden collection of Mosfilm.
The video collection also has numerous filmed operas and ballets that involved such great artists as Plácido Domingo, Luciano Pavarotti, Cecilia Bartoli, Anna Netrebko, Irina Kolpakova, Vladimir Malakhov and many others. There are TV plays and the most successfully performed theater plays. Our collection includes the films dedicated to the history of the world fine art and the biographic films about famous painters, educational films on the history of arts with outline on the techniques and genres, historical and cultural studies of the actual subjects, travelling guides that cover many places on our planet.
The prices are reasonable http://liart.ru/ru/pages/service/01/, the more friends you bring to the Video Club the less you pay. Our Video Club is a comfortable zone that holds up to 15 viewers. We can consult you on the subject of the films and will be happy to assist you in selecting the video material and also will help you to get a subscription ticket.
You are welcome to apply for watching the films on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays 11.00 – 17.00 and on Thursdays 11.00 –19.00.
