In February, the exhibition ‘Two Goddesses. Galina Ulanova and Maya Plisetskaya’ was held in the Blue Hall of the Russian State Art Library (RSAL). The exposition, which aroused great interest among visitors, presented unique materials from RSAL’s collections: photographs of the famous ballerinas in everyday life and on stage, programmes and booklets of performances, reviews from various years in newspapers and magazines, books, and albums.
Viewers of RSAL’s YouTube channel have the opportunity to visit the exhibition, which revealed new pages in the life and work of Galina Ulanova and Maya Plisetskaya. In particular, you may see rare photographs by the famous photographer and artist Miron Sherling of the young prima ballerina of the Leningrad Kirov Opera and Ballet Theatre Galina Ulanova, learn how Maya Plisetskaya prepared at the
‘Teatralka’ Theatre Library for her debut in the ballet Raymonda, and hear assessments of their creative work by their famous contemporaries.
