On 27 August 2020, the Day of Russian Cinema, RSAL Hosted an Online Meeting with the Famous Film Director Sergey Ursulyak

Date: 29.09.2020

Sergey Ursulyak has directed many film adaptations that were aired to mass TV viewership and which collected a number of film and other prestigious awards. His love affair with novels has been of interest for over 25 years, and his films always provoke heated discussions. Ursulyak rejected the textbook cinematic images of the famous, And Quiet Flows the Don by Mikhail Sholokhov, shot many years ago by the famous Soviet director Sergei Gerasimov. Ursulyak proposed characters different from the book descriptions for the screen version of Bad Weather by Anatoly Ivanov, and for the first time filmed the prose of satirist Mikhail Zhvanetsky.

During the meeting with Sergey Ursulyak, there was a conversation about the problems of following the author's lines in a literary work, about the fate of some film adaptations, the relationship between the writer and director, the criteria for casting, and during the pandemic, life in self-isolation.
