Winners of the Children’s Art Competition “There Once Was a Manul Cat” Were Awarded in RSAL

Date: 19.06.2017

On May 26, in the Blue Hall of the Russian State Art Library (RSAL), at the exhibition “Animals of the World in the Art World,” the winners of the art competition “There Once Was a Manul Cat” were named.

On that day, everyone who wished could come to the reading hall to see the pictures by the participants and winners of the contest at the festive awards ceremony in the Readers Museum of RSAL.

In her summation, the head of the Visual Information Centre at RSAL, Elena Khaplanova, stressed that for the jury composed of professional artists the question of choosing the best of the best proved to be a difficult one: first, about 150 pictures were submitted; second, there was great diversity in the genres; and third, there was a wide age range of participants.

All who supported the contest—the Moscow Zoo, Eurasian Regional Association of Zoos & Aquariums, Moscow Young Generation Theatre, the Natalya Sats Moscow State Academic Children’s Musical Theatre, Moscow Academic Mayakovsky Theatre, and the Albus Corvus (Белая ворона) publishing house—provided prizes: tickets for popular children’s performances, books, souvenirs, and special certificates. Moreover, RSAL departments offered their own awards and prizes to encourage young artists. Nominations in the contest went to “Manul Cats in Their Natural Habitat,” “The Most Poetic Manul Cat,” “For the Dream of Freedom,” “Colour Harmony and Perfection of Composition,” “The Most Mysterious and Clever Manul Cat,” and many more.

All participants received certificates, Moscow Zoo badges and magnets, and gingerbread souvenirs from the Heritage of the North foundation.
