Representatives of the Russian State Art Library participated in the 4th Russian-Chinese Library Forum.
The 4th Russian-Chinese Library Forum was held in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, from 1−4 June 2026. The theme of the event was “Improving Library Resources and Services within the Framework of High-Quality Development”.
The forum was organised by the National Library of China and the Russian State Library, with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation. The event was supported by the Library Society of China and the Russian Library Association. The Sichuan Provincial Library served as a co-organiser.
The forum brought together directors and leading specialists from libraries in Russia and China to exchange experiences and discuss future development opportunities. The Russian State Art Library (RSAL) was represented at the forum by Deputy Director for Economic Affairs Nadezhda Petrova and Head of the Scientific and Organisational Work Department Alexander Moskvin. Welcoming remarks were given by Zhanna Alekseeva, State Secretary and Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation; Wang Jianhua, Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China; and Hu Yun, Vice Governor of the People’s Government of Sichuan Province.
Participants presented reports on the implementation of artificial intelligence and the digital transformation of libraries, the development of international cooperation, and the promotion of books and reading. Alexander Moskvin, Head of the Scientific and Organisational Work Department at RSAL, spoke about RSAL’s cultural and educational programmes designed to support professional reading among those in creative professions.
As part of the cultural programme, forum participants visited the Panda Research Centre, the largest children’s bookstore in Chengdu, and the reading rooms and the book restoration centre at the Sichuan Provincial Library.
