The Presentation of the Book, The Unknown Stanislavsky Was Held at RSAL
On May 21, Moscow Art Theatre Museum Director Marfa Bubnova presented her new book-album, The Unknown Stanislavsky. Production Materials, Scenery Motifs, Costume Designs, Makeup.
Marfa Bubnova told the story of how the book began with the accidental discovery of Konstantin Stanislavsky’s albums that preserved the layout of scenery, sketches of costumes and props, drawings from nature, and makeup options.
According to its compiler, Stanislavsky’s drawings are valuable not only for their artistic features, but as works providing interesting information and showing the famous director’s internal ‘laboratory’ in creating performances over the years.
